CANDY SEASON A PERFECT TIME FOR HONOURING YOUR ORAL HEALTH

Since mid-August, Lakeport Dental staff have been seeing bags and boxes of treats – mini candy bars; small suckers; wrapped caramels; chips and salty treats – lining the “back-to-school” aisles of Niagara grocery stores and pharmacies.

As October 31 approaches (or any time after Labour Day), those back-to-school aisles conveniently become the Halloween aisles, as retailers switch over to the push to sell sugary treats to mark the beginning of candy season (you know, that time from Halloween to Easter, when we are programmed to celebrate with chocolate and other sweets).

Earlier this year, between May 15 and June 15, dental clinics, individuals and organizations around the world celebrated National Smile Month. The month-long campaign, which promotes good oral health habits, puts a spotlight on the need for education leading to improved tooth and mouth care – something about which our staff at Lakeport Dental office feel very strongly.
