Canal Days takes place this year Aug. 4 to Aug. 7, with activities and attractions that celebrate the history of the area and its unique locale. Visitors can take in all that the festival offers – live entertainment; tall ships; awesome food and snack items; heritage artisans and crafts; museum displays; carnivals rides and games; shopping kiosks, and Ontario’s largest outdoor classic car and international kite show. If you are planning to join people from all over Ontario at Canal Days, Lakeport Dental staff would like to pass on some advice regarding summer’s carnival-type food and snacks. Normally, we would say to remember to rinse, brush and floss after your treats, to keep your teeth in tip-top shape. However, when you are at a festival like Canal Days or taking in the sites on a family vacation that may not be possible. Our suggestion to you is to always rinse with water following every treat, and carry a small package of dental floss with you.
After enjoying the candy floss or caramel corn, use your dental floss and rinse with water to keep your mouth from holding on to all that sugar. Then, when you come see us for your back-to-school checkup, we won’t find any evidence of your sweet indulgences! We’d love to talk to you about summer treats and dental safety! Is it effective to use dental floss to clean the remaining cotton candy on the teeth?
